Letter sent to Jessie Palmer Weber at the Illinois State Historical Library containing the typed transcript of a letter from Admiral Samuel Lee to Wisconsin Senator J.R. Doolittle, mentions reconnaissance on the James River, the ship Keokuk, the Naval officers who helped capture New Orleans and Lee's recent visit with Doolittle. Mowry offers the letter for publication in the "Quarterly" since "Judge Doolittle has many friends in Illinois."
